That is true. Any Audubon Society Field Guides are always good. I love the Audubon Society books. Excellent. This book is a pocket guide. Really good. If you are planning to go shelling anywhere on the coastlines of North America, bring along this book. It is very small and easy to fit in a large pocket or bag. Many commonly found seashells are viewed in it. It is surprising how many shells are listed for such a small guide. All shells are the most common throughout North America. Each photograph is an entire page in full color, crisp and clear. Just gorgeous pictures with each shell viewed from the front and back. The photo page is on your right side and the page next to it on your left side is all the information and cool details about the seashell in the photo. Information given is the shells scientific and common names, how large, description of the shell (appearance), What places they are found and where in the sea and how deep they are found. Really cool guide book. In the beginning it tells you all the different types of shells there are, the shapes of shells, how to collect and clean them, etc. It is a small, helpful book packed with cool stuff.
The photography is stunning. Very helpful as a field guide, and just plain interesting to sit down and look through. My husband and I live on a lake, with plenty of wildlife, including spiders and insects. This is an excellent guide to "critters" in your own back yard Both interesting and educational.
I love this little book. Over 20 years ago my son carried one around with him every day. I still have it :) I just ordered one for my nephew who has autism and he loves it as well. Then ordered one for my 7 year old grandson. It will be here when he comes next week.
The book may be a fake, because it has a different published date than advertised, and the Cover is different. See attached photos. And furthermore the published date in the book sent and the advertised published date are different than in the real National Audubon Society Pocket Guide, Familiar Animal Tracks book.
My 8 year old son loves wildlife and hiking. He love, love, loves this book to go on explorations for animals and to identify prints or other items we may find along the way. Beautiful, child friendly descriptions of the animals, their habits, and habitats. Easy size to take on long hikes! Highly Recommend.
We are collectors of field guides in our home. This is a pocket guide, so it is not large, it is not goign to tell you everything there is to know about every bug on the planet. It literally fits perfectly in the back pocket of a pair of blue jeans. It has beautiful, full color photos like all NAS guides, what it doesn't have is rare insects or tons of info. Great for kids, great for starters just getting into field guides or nature study.
