Xenophobe's Guide to the Estonians is a short but informative book that can easily be read in one sitting. It provides humorous insights into the Estonian character that I found to be fairly accurate based on my experiences. I think it would be helpful reading for anyone planning to visit Estonia or for anyone acquainted with Estonians. As with any group, there are always many exceptions to the characterizations contained in the book, but on the whole the authors have captured the ethnic characteristics and present them in an enjoyable and very readable format.
As an Estonian I felt ashamed and flabbergasted to read this pile of regrettable outdated stereotypes, compiled with no sense of humor, decency or understanding of the subject matter! This book is a disgrace!
Really complete, touching on every conceivable aspect of the culture, but light enough for an easy and enjoyable read. Well done!
Entertaining read, with some good insights into Estonians as a whole (though based on a limited sample), but I was looking for more breadth and depth.
We'll written and reasonably accurate book. Does deal in stereotypes, but there are always truths in those. Recommended for anyone wanting a general understanding of the Estonians .
great little book.
Preparing to move to Estonia for 2 years and this gave me some great advice and insight into the culture.
Well it should be light, easy reading and fun. Didn't match those criteria. I am disappointed and Estonian. At least the facts are fine.
