Good detail as advertised but not as much as scotland road atlas in book form used by my friends. HUGE map. Way too big for conveient reference in the car while navigating for driver. I would prefer a book atlas of even higher resolution. Does not list absolutely all roads by number it seems. Tough paper.
This is a great map. It's big, but if you want to see all the roads in Scotland, then this is it. Also has many/most of the points of interest noted in red along the way so you don't accidentally drive by an awesome castle you didn't know about. Made of a nice thick quality paper. I had to buy this because the first "little" map I bought did not have enough detail.
Collins Touring Maps are quite good with regard to content, but starting with the first few unfoldings they begin to fall apart. After less than a week of use, my Scotland map was in three pieces and after 3 weeks was in many pieces. I cannot understand why a map designed to be unfolded and folded as it basic operation would not be made to last. Other maps do this too, but not after a few openings.
You don't need all the info on regular map. You do want the extra info on this one. It's just cleaner for touring.
This was quite a useful map. It has items you would never find otherwise, and once you are in the general vicinity there is typically some sort of signage which helps you get to the exact location. I'm glad I ordered it.
It's a very detailed map, but some of the places are printed in yellow ink, which makes them hard to see/read. It is HUGE map, as others have stated. (Completely covers my dining room table with a leaf in) The size wouldn't be a problem if it was laminated. When it's that big you need to fold and turn it often and the map tears easily if you're not VERY careful. It is good for planning, but not sure it's practical for on the road use.
This is indeed a detailed map and for that I gave it 2 stars. The dimensions given are accurate if folded up (roughly 9" x 5"). Unfolded it is literally 48" x 36", totally unmanageable in either the car or even trying to work at a desk. It is difficult to fold/refold to an area I want to focus on. I'd return it but the material ripped. If you want lots of detail but don't plan on using it in a car, this is a contender.
This is a thorough and accurate road map, but so large that it isn't really useful in the car. It was great for planning our one-month road trip to the northern half of Scotland, but we used it very little once we were actually there.
